Workout Together - Work Life Out Together

"I first met Dianne and Sandie in 2009. They found Just 4 You Wellness Studio through a mutual friend, (and past fitness instructor from Dynafit), named Carol Loos. Upon first meeting this special pair, I knew that I was in for some big time fun and laughs! They started Yoga and Yolates with me, and are now hard core Group Centergy enthusiasts!

Sandie and Dianne have been working at this "fitness thing" for a while now and have a recipe for friendship that works - workout together, work life out together. They first met in 1985 at a local fitness club called Dynafit, where they attended group fitness classes. They began a friendship on the fitness floor and soon became coffee buds, dear friends and frequent travel companions. They are "seasoned" fitness enthusiasts who have survived Jane Fonda, Kathy Smith, Billy Blanks and leg warmers!

Sandie has a real passion for fitness, and Dianne jokingly refers to being "dragged" to class each week by her passionate friend (for 25 years!). They have seen each other through many things (including fitness trends), and are now enjoying time chilling at the studio and hanging with their grown children/new family members.

We love to share stories like Dianne and Sandie's, and encourage you to share yours as well. Come out one Tuesday or Thursday evening and meet these two wonderful women. Perhaps you too, are looking to make some new friends who become life-long pals? It just takes a moment to ask someone out for a coffee or to exchange a few kind words at class to start the ball rolling... first coffee, then dinners, then trips to Mazatlan!"Sandie Ketcheson and Dianne Hendriks

Personal Training Testimonial, Surrey, BC

Story of Faith and Determination
My name is Anne Warkentin, and I'm 80 years young.

"Two years ago in July, I had a bad fall, smashing my hip and thigh. There wasn't enough hip left to do a replacement, so the docs put in a 16-inch pin with a spring on the end to buffer the impact of walking. After 12 days I came home, but 2 days later I was back in hospital with pancreatitis. Slowly my health improved, and in August I came home, using a walker. My husband found a park where walking was smooth enough to use the walker, and we walked.

Very slowly my stamina improved, but my balance was poor. When I was able, I exchanged the walker with a cane. Soon we were back to our old haunts: The Fen, Tynehead Trail, even Sunnyside.

At home, after some time, I discarded the cane, but I always used it for long walks.

Our daughter noticed that I was in some pain, so she introduced me to her personal trainer, Karen Sydenham. Thanks to our hard work to improve strength, stamina, and balance, my pain is minimal, my balance and strength improved. I am able to walk at a good pace for an hour, and not feel exhausted.I am now using the TRX and can hold a plank for one minute and 20 secs! I'm also much more flexible, and have a spring in my step!

Karen is very observant, and shows me how to improve posture, while encouraging me to go a little farther; do a little bit more than I think I can.

I thank God that I'm doing so well. I haven't used the cane for months now and am having the time of my life!"
